My boyfriend has been separated from his wife for 8 months and even moved out of state at the beginning of their separation.He continued to share a bank account with her to help her financially through the break-up.She recently discovered he is seeing someone else and completely cleaned out their shared bank account the morning after his pay check was deposited.She seems bent on crucifying him financially for Haven the audacity to ''move on'' after their split.Canny she order credit cards in his and her name without his consent and will he be equally responsible for any debt she incurs with any such cards.They have not filed for divorce yet.

If l were he.. l would monitor his credit report closely.and have alerts placed on his credit so that he is notified if anyone attempts to open new credit in his name.

He needs to contact the three major credit bureaus Now. Online at free credit report dot com or credit report dot com check it out u get one free report a year per us gov. Have him tell the credit reporting compainies ( all three of them) he wants them to contact him for any new authorizations for new credit & he needs to have them put unauthorized or fraud alert on cc that were opened without his consent! Also he can check what accounts have been open without his consent. Again, he needs to contact the cc companies & tell them he did not authorize these accounts to be opened & have them closed. Tell him to tell the CC companies his wife & he r ''legally'' separated & the wife open this account without his consent. He may have to fight but he may only have to pay a fraction of the cost.

No she can not. It is called Fruad. It is Identity theft. He needs go file a police report and send a copy to the credit company.

She can since she knows all his personal information. He needs to start monitoring his credit ASAP by signing up on the triple alert website. He will get notifications of when an inquiry is made by any of the credit cards & when a new account is open. He would be able to act faster once he sees an inquiry & call the inquirer to explain the situation.

In the meantime he needs to change his direct deposit infor & open a personal bank account. Umm..he needs to start the proceedings for a divorce before she does anymore harm. Since they r still married on paper he may not have a case since she is still recognized as his wife & he a married man.

If ur boyfriend wants to move on he needs to file for divorce. Until he does that BOTH him or his soon to be(?) ex r gulity of not ''moving on''. You need to really take that into consideration.

Now, she can not apply for credit in HIS name that would be identity theft & she would be in trouble. However, since they r still married(not even legally separated) if they live in a Community Property state if she gets credit in her name he would still be as responsible as she is for the debt.

Now, this is not what u want to hear but u need to get him to file for divorce. If he refuses for reasons such as he is trying to help her out(especially after she wiped out the account) then u need to take a good hard look at him & see if he really is ever going to get a divorce.

Nothing he can do about cleaning out the bank account, he could have done the same thing. l do not think she can get credit in his name without committing fraud. She wo not have his signature.
