Just do the repairing yourself and you will be fine. Remember credit repair takes time and patience but anyone can do it. Here is a good source of information on how to do it.

Goodness.do not by anymeans use these so-called quick credit fixes or credit doctors. You have to take charge of ur own financial destiny. Since so many people ask this question here is a step-by-step guide of how to approach fixing ur credit. Good luck !

1 - If u have not already get current copies of ur credit reports from the 3 major bureaus (Equifax, Experian & Transunion)

2 - Take a photocopy of each & put the originals in a binder

3 - Get a highlighter & highlight any account that is negative (collections, written off, older than 7 yrs, etc.)

4 - Any inactive account that is older than 7 yrs should not be deleted from ur report. Download a dispute letter from the credit bureaus website(s) & fill in the details

5 - For collection/overdue items, if they r greater than 7 yrs dispute them as well

6- If there r still valid debts, u need to contact the creditor & negotiate a 'pay for delete' in addition to a payment plan if u cannot pay in full. If they start hounding u send them a 'cease & dessist' letter stating they may only contact u in writing.

7 - Do not apply for any credit while u r doing this or for the next year (ideally 2)

8 - If u currently have any credit card or loan balances, pay them off or at least pay them down to bring them current

9 - If u need a credit card, get a secured card from Capital One for $500 (or more if u can)..use it sparingly for like only $25-50 & pay in full & on time every other month or so to establish good re-payment history.

A little patience & 2-3 months, u will be on ur way.

Lots of advice on this subject. Actually almost too much. The bottom line is, u can repair ur record legally. However, the solution will be to remove blemishes on ur record that should not be there. You can not erase justified items. The task is not impossible, but it wo not happen overnight.
