Ok I am still 17 turning 18 in less then 3 months and l think i'm very responsible and l wanna get ready for the future but l do not know if there is any sooner way to get a credit card. I am already out of high school and in college if that helps. l have a job and l have a checking and savings account at wamu. I've never had an overdraft for as long as l had the account. Does anyone know if l have a chance at getting a credit card?

You need to be 18 because u can not sign a contract under 18 (well, u can, but it is not binding). The key here is that u have paid attention to credit & money management & u have a respect for it. Do not ever let this stop! :)

As far as getting a card, u will need to do a little research, but it is not difficult. Just learn some terms & understand what they mean (if u havent already). By the time u hit 18, u will have a good idea as to what is right for u & then u can apply. If u r turned down for some cards at that point, do not take it personally, just apply for a pre-paid or secured credit card. The company that issues it doesnt have to worry about u paying it off (since u already pre-paid the account) & they get to watch u to see how u use it. Once they r comfortable, they will give u one, no worries about that.
