Okay so l messed my credit up bad from being young and making poor decisions...l had to learn the hard way. 90% of my debt is medical though. Non the less we need to build my fiance is being that is the only credit we have to rely on now. He does not have any thing in collections and for the past 6 months we have been paying all our bills early by a few days. His credit report only shows his master card though, and it is in good standing. Other than a secured credit card how can we build his credit. right now because he has so little credit we can not get approved for anything. So we stopped applying to prevent further lowering of his credit score.

Suggestions? OTHER THAN A SECURED CREDIT CARD.
l do not think we can get a co-signer and he can not get approved. Also, l found out it is not true that paying off your bill will give you credit faster. l thought that was true, later a financial advisor l use to work with told me they like to get paid the interest so leave a little balance on the bill each month. for example the bill is $300 only pay $250..

If he has or can get $500, put it a savings at a bank and use that as collateral for a $500 loan. Use the money in the bank to make the monthly payments. This will give something to build on and show a good payment history with that bank (and other credit reporting sources as well).

Get a small loan and pay it off quickly

Always pay the full amount of your credit card bill ASAP

Can you get a co-signer for another, better card? Piggybacking off someone else is better credit can help you - just do not screw them over.

l would recommend 2 things: 1) a very low cost (possibly free) credit repair program to try to have the negative items removed. 2) l would add a tradeline program to boost ur score quickly (60 days or quite possibly less). A friend in California used this & got a 120 point bump from 560 to 680. There has been a lot of disinformation by Experian saying these authorized user programs do not work. Check out the source news link for an article from July 30th that has them admitting it still exists.
